Hi there, and welcome to the new community site for the Vigrid Game Engine, a freely downloadable turn-based game creation utility!

At the beginning of 2003, I started writing a new hex-board turn-based game called Black Rain: Afflatus (Black Rain is a game I designed somewhere around 1994). I decided it was finished at the beginning of 2005. I tried marketing it for a while at a reasonable price, but it never felt right. So I've since decided to make it what I always wanted it to be: I reverse-engineered the entire game, took out all hardcoding and replaced it with values in a .CSV file (similar to an .INI file in other games). What does this mean for you? It means that you can make your own turn-based hex-board strategy game!

Nearly everything can be changed, from hundreds of gameplay options to every sound and graphic in the game, and it's all done by manipulating a single text file (and copying any extra files over). I have now released this engine to the public at no charge, per the License Agreement restrictions. My reason for this is simple: I can't wait to play all the great games people will make with it! That being said, if you use it, I would appreciate it if you would make a small donation for my time; one dollar, 5 dollars, 10 dollars, whatever, but those who donate greater amounts will receive a greater voice in the direction of future revisions and features.
